Aim
To give knowledge, skills and practical guide for using Geographic Information Systems (GIS) for project monitoring and management. The application of GIS in monitoring and Evaluation of projects improves the effectiveness and communications of results to management, funding partners, and beneficiaries.
Course Objectives
At the end of this training you will be able to:
- Identify key concepts of GIS and their applications in M&E;
- Enhance knowledge in Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) Systems;
- Understand to develop an M&E-GIS System, collect data using mobile phones and GPS and integrate existing M&E data with GIS
- Analyze and visualize M&E data with the aid of GIS techniques, integrate GIS into M&E activities and M&E information management systems

Introduction to Monitoring and Evaluation; Introduction to GIS and remote sensing; Mobile GIS applications in M&E; Developing a GIS integrated communication system New geo-technologies being adopted in project M&E; Using smartphone apps to collect field M&E data; Spatial data collection techniques for project management; Visualizing project data; GIS and GPS application in M&E; Updating data in the M&E-GIS system; Preparing monitoring and evaluation reports /communicating results.
